Apprenticeships

Joining one of our apprentice programmes means getting every chance to show what you can do. Earning while you learn, you’ll find out all about our work and our industry. You’ll contribute to meaningful projects, and you’ll work alongside supportive, welcoming people who’ll always be there to answer your questions and provide advice.

You don’t need to have studied a finance related subject to apply, but an interest in our industry is important. Curiosity and motivation are valued here; we feel excited by candidates who demonstrate boldness and bravery.

Location of our offices

United Kingdom

Our first UK office opened in London in 1973. We now have some 2,500 people working in three main offices at Lower Kingswood in Surrey and Cannon Street in London.

India

With a large employee base working out of India, Fidelity International in India is the largest capability hub for Fidelity globally.

Ireland

Fidelity International has operated in Ireland since 2000 and is home to the Fidelity International Irish business.

We offer apprenticeships across many different business teams in the UK & Ireland. We want to ensure our apprentices come in and have a real role to do - this means that the roles available may differ each year depending on hiring need. As an example, some of our recent apprentice programmes have included Client Services, Resolutions, Asset Management Operations, Business Administration, Internal Audit, Compliance & Risk, various Technology roles, HR, and Investment Management.

How you’ll spend your time

Over your two-year apprenticeship programme, you’ll work to develop behavioural skills, gain experience, and achieve an accredited certification. 

All our apprentices are expected to complete an apprenticeship course as part of their programme, with a training provider that we have partnered with. The apprenticeship course will vary by role and location, and the learning outcomes/modules and final qualification will differ based on the programme you are enrolled onto.

The apprenticeship programme will be mapped to your role, enabling you to gain experience, enhance your knowledge and evidence your understanding, whilst being supported both by the business and your training provider. 

What we look for

We welcome applications from individuals who are committed to pursuing a career in financial services, and that have a willingness to learn and develop their professional skills and experience. 

We appreciate that everyone’s backgrounds and journeys are different, so we take a particular interest in your willingness to learn, interest in our field and transferrable skills, over education history and experience. 

We want people that are interested in both the industry and the sector, but ultimately those that are looking for a career which will reward them in both job satisfaction and development.

We feel excited by potential, so we encourage you to apply even if you do not meet 100% of the requirements in a job description - we are looking for candidates who meet most of them, and are driven to learn and develop in other areas.

You will be highly driven with a desire to learn. You don’t need to have a finance-related background, but an interest in our business area will help you succeed.

You will need to be able to communicate with a wide variety of people at different levels within the organisation, both verbally and via written correspondence.

You will be organised and motivated. During an apprenticeship you will learn the theory of a subject and apply this practically within the workplace, so you need to balance competing interests and dea

Academic criteria

Typically, within the UK you will need at least five GCSEs between grades 4-9 (or A*-C), two of which must be English and Maths achieved at grade 4+.

In Ireland, for a Level 6 programme, you will need a leaving certification and for a Level 8 programme, you will need an undergraduate degree. 

There may be further academic requirements, which will vary depending on the apprenticeship standard and role within the workplace. These will be clearly outlined in the job description.

Other considerations

Due to the way apprenticeships are funded in the UK, you must have been a UK resident for at least the last three years, and you must have the Right to Work in the UK*.

Candidates in Ireland should have the right to work in Ireland. 

*Please note if you are currently on a Tier 4 student visa, this means you have the right to work in the UK
